Customer Comment
"Thanks again for the fantastic job on my website.
I was a little skeptical at first because I had assumed the cost would be much greater than it actually turned out to be. I could not be any
happier with the product. The reasonable price was merely the icing on the cake."

More Information
The World Wide Web is a virtually limitless collection of software applications, all interacting within a common medium. Anyone can create a web page which works well with one of those applications, but it takes a skilled designer to create web pages which work well with the majority of them. Creating attractive web pages that perform well is what sets our design services apart from many others.
Template driven web pages and web pages created with HTML editing software, even when used properly can produce web pages which are extremely limited in their functionality. Although there are numerous easy to use, fairly effective HTML editing applications available today, none can create a web page as effective as one created by a trained professional.
A surprising number of so-called web designers earn a living today providing their clients with web pages created with HTML editing software. Since the software of choice among the majority of these so-called designers is a program called Microsoft Front Page®,
we feel that this piece of software deserves particular mention. This program creates web pages using HTML in conjunction with specialized browser commands commonly known as "Front Page Extensions". Unfortunately for the client, Front Page Extensions are only
completely supported by one software application in use today, the Microsoft Internet Explorer® web browser. These web pages commonly do not view correctly, or function correctly with other web browsing applications, and in fact, quite frequently do not function at all when viewed with other web browsing software.
More importantly, search engines and other indexing services do not support Front Page Extensions, which can make marketing these web pages an extremely frustrating experience for the client.
Recent research does indicate, and our own web tracking verifies that some 70% of all users browsing the World Wide Web are doing so with some version of Microsoft Internet Explorer®, but what about the other 30% who are using some other web browser? Can you afford to drive away 30% of your web
site audience, some 20 million users, because your web site was designed not to work for them? We can't afford to do that, and we know our clients can't afford to do it either. That's why every web page we create is thoroughly tested for compatibility with all common web browsing applications, and all common indexing services.
Frequently Asked Questions
| Q. |
How long has Affordable Internet Technology been providing web design services? |
| A. |
We began developing our first commercial web site back in 1995. Today, numerous updates and improvements later, that web site continues to grow in popularity on a daily basis.
|
| Q. |
If your company produces web pages without the use of HTML editing software, how exactly do you create the HTML code? |
| A. |
Every web page we create is hand coded by one of our HTML professionals using nothing more than a text editor such as Windows Wordpad, or Notepad.
|
| Q. |
I paid another designer a lot of money for a web site made with templates, did I waste my money? |
| A. |
Not entirely. Any web site is usually better than no web site at all, however you definately made an uninformed decision, and probably did not get the best value you could have for your money.
|
| Q. |
If software generated web pages are so inferior, how is it possible that so many developers are using them? |
| A. |
Simple, they generally deal with clients who do not know the difference. Today everyone wants to put their business on the World Wide Web, unfortunately most have very little knowledge of exactly what they are buying when they purchase web design services. It can really pay off in the long run to become an educated consumer before you buy.
|
| Q. |
Can your company correct poorly made web pages? |
| A. |
Absolutely. The most basic errors in web page construction can have extremely detrimental effects on web site performance, but are easily repaired. In some cases correcting poorly made web pages requires re-writing the HTML code entirely, and the cost of these corrections can sometimes equal the cost of creating the pages from scratch.
|
| Q. |
How can I tell if a designer is providing effective web pages or not? |
| A. |
Several ways. Talk to people, ask questions, and do a little research first. Check public ranking services for popularity rankings of web sites they have created, or even their own company web site. You may be very surprised at what you learn. If a web designer or developer can't market their own website effectively, how are they going to help you market yours?
|
| Q. |
Is cross-browser compatibility really important? |
| A. |
It should be. Although Microsoft Internet Explorer® has apparently won the browser wars, there are still a great deal of people using other platforms. WebTV® membership alone increases by over a million users every year, and this service is very popular among senior citizens, who have proven to be avid web consumers.
|
| Q. |
My designer told me that making web pages designed for Internet Explorer only was OK because everyone is using it. This isn't true? |
| A. |
Not exactly. Users of other web browsing platforms constitute a rather small percentage of web users, however in actual numbers they are an audience we feel cannot be simply ignored. Here is the actual web browser usage for visitors to our website during a recent month.
